Area Executive Director, So. CA / HI

Clemente joined ALSAC/St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) in August 2021 as the Area Executive Director for So. CA and HI. In this role, Clemente has the privilege of leading teams of excellent and seasoned fundraisers in the areas of annual giving, major gifts, planned-giving, corporate partnerships and events. Clemente is also responsible for leading, developing and driving the comprehensive vision, fundraising and growth strategies to secure funding in So. CA and HI; and in alignment with the territory strategy. Clemente also partners with the territory teams to identify, cultivate, solicit/close and steward in all verticals with the purpose of growing existing revenue sources and creating new revenue opportunities.

Prior to joining SJCRH, Clemente worked at Aetna, a CVS-owned company, since December 2007, as the Regional Director of Community Relations. Clemente’s main focus was to build relationships with non-profits and for-profit organizations in the West Region, which included the 14 states from Alaska to Texas, to assist Aetna in achieving its national, regional and local strategic goals; and align these relationships with Aetna’s initiatives in order to establish marketplace leadership.

Prior to this, Clemente worked at Blue Cross of California in the Emerging Markets Department as a Business Development Director.  Clemente also spent 6 months as a Business Development Consultant at Evercare under Secure Horizons in Southern California acquiring experience in the Medicare (Senior) Market.

Before the health insurance industry, Clemente spent several years as an Advertising Sales Manager at El Clasificado LLC in Los Angeles and The James G. Elliott Co., an advertising sales rep firm, focusing his efforts on National and Regional account management. He also spent three years as the Promotions Manager at Casanova Pendrill Advertising, a top-notch, national Hispanic advertising agency in Los Angeles with a noted client roster. Clemente worked on the Home Depot, DirecTV and Coors Light accounts, among others; and worked on pitching new business.

Prior to joining Casanova Pendrill, Clemente spent three and a half years as the Promotions Executive at La Opinión, the Spanish-language Newspaper in Los Angeles.  He managed and coordinated event marketing with cooperative advertisers and participation at trade shows, conventions, fairs and other events. 

Clemente began his marketing career as the Promotions Representative for Adidas America in the Soccer Department for the West Region, which included eleven states. Clemente serviced and managed promotional accounts which included elite college programs, state youth associations and the U.S. National Team prior to and during World Cup 1994.

Clemente is a graduate from CSU Dominguez Hills in California, with a double Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with emphasis in Marketing and Management, while he was a member of the Dominguez Hills Men's Soccer Team.  Clemente still finds time to dedicate to the community by serving as Head Soccer Coach at Inglewood High School since 1987.
